7 ways to improve skin hydration

Dry skin and dehydrated skin are two different things… Dry skin is characterized by fewer oil-producing glands on the face and body. Dehydrated skin, on the other hand, is a lack of water, not oil. So you can actually have an oily complexion but still have dehydrated skin. Either way, there are things you can do to enhance hydration and give you your glow back!

Here are our 7 tips to improve skin hydration:

1. Drink water

Adding more water to your diet will give the body all the water it needs to sustain functioning and skin health. My nutritionist recommended that I take my weight, divide it in half, and that’s how many ounces I should be drinking. (and no, I’m not telling you how many ounces that is!)

2. Moisturize

Adding moisturizers to your skin-care routine is one of the best skin intervention tactics - especially look for something with hyaluronic acid in it like VICBeauty's Hyaluronic Acid + Vitamin B serum to help promote skin hydration, elasticity, and firmness.

3. Eat your H20

Plants like cucumbers and watermelons contain plenty of water and electrolytes, which can help you get your baby skin back!

4. Limit your bathing

Avoid showering too often, as that may deprive you of the naturally produced body oils, thus making the skin dry.

5. Pay attention to ingredients

Many soaps, shower gels, even shampoos have ingredients in them that can be very drying. So make sure to avoid anything that contains alcohol, fragrances, preservatives and look for something that is sulfate-free.

 6. Exfoliate

Properly exfoliating your skin is a vital thing to do for the better health of your skin. Do that up to 3 times per week! I am in love with the VICBeauty Body Sea Salt and Oil body polish - an exfoliating blend of rich mineral sea salt and coconut oil that leaves skin feeling soft and smooth.

7. Consider a humidifier

Consider putting a humidifier in your office or home to keep the air adequately humid so your skin doesn't release moisture to the air.
